Early the next morning Reggie stood next to her hot tub and debated how she would spend her day. The tub was inviting, but she really needed to get serious about an exercise program. Walking Pinch was exercise, but that had been done and now her dog was back asleep inside her narrow boat, while she had barely even worked up a sweat. Pushing aside the temptation of turning herself into a prune in the soothing waters of the hot tub, she eyed the sunshine glinting off the waters of Breezy Bay.

Her kayak rested on the dock invitingly, so she decided that a morning paddle would be better than sitting around soaking. Quickly she exchanged her lounging pajamas for proper cold-water attire before hurrying toward her kayak.

“Where are you off to already?” Doan walked up holding the reusable Dockside Delights bag that he normally brought her.

“I’ve got to work off those pastries you’re spoiling me with every morning, so I figured I’d get a jump on the day by going out for a paddle along the shore again.”

“What have you done with Pinch?” Doan looked around in vain for her dog. “I know he loves his nibbles too.”

“I was an early bird today. He’s already been fed and walked and is now settled in for his first task of the morning—a two-hour power nap.” Reggie started pushing her kayak off the dock, grumpy at being delayed. Doan was sweet, but she wanted to take a look by herself at the beach where the dredger had been at first.

“You’re going back out to where we saw the dredger, aren’t you? Give me half a second, and I’ll come with you.”

Reggie climbed into her kayak before opening the delicious smelling bag. It held her absolute favorite among the luscious treats that Skye made—a Dockside Delights signature mango and orange sticky bun. She bit into it and moaned softly at the first bite. Doan coming with her wasn’t quite what she had planned, but at least she would enjoy her wait.

“Okay, I’m ready. Or do you want me to give you and that sticky bun a moment longer together?” Doan had returned in record time and was floating next to her. “Do you really want to go back to where we were yesterday? The tide is against us this morning, and you haven’t really explored to the south of Breezy Bay yet.”

“No, I’m certain that the dredger is the key to what happened to Harvey Fordham, and I need to have a look at where it was before it got moved.”

During her walk, Reggie had come up with a few reasons why the dredger might have been moved, but she wanted to check out for herself how close it had been to the hatchery before she said anything.

“I think Bonnie knows more about Harvey’s death, or at least what happened to him, than she’s saying. Moving the dredger could have been done so that the police would look elsewhere for Harvey’s killer.”

“That doesn’t make much sense.
